Summer Solstice Reflection: Gentle Mid-Year Check-In

As the sun reaches its highest point in the sky, the temperature rises and the days stretch out, something shifts within us too.

The Summer Solstice, with its bright, expansive energy, is nature’s invitation to pause. To take a breath. To reflect gently at this mid-year point – a moment for a summer solstice check-in, and to notice where the light has been rising in our lives – even if quietly, even if slowly.

At this midpoint in the year, there’s a beautiful opportunity to check in with yourself. Not with pressure to set big goals or fix anything, but with gentle curiosity. How have you grown in the past six months? What have you moved through, let go of, embraced? Where have you been showing up with quiet strength, even when no one else saw it?

Sometimes we’re so busy moving forward that we forget to look back and honour the ground we’ve already covered.

So, this is your moment – right here – to do just that.

Journal Prompts for Summer Solstice Reflection

If you’d like a little support, these summer solstice reflection journal prompts might help you find your way back to what matters:

  • What’s felt especially joyful or light for me this year?

  • In what ways have I been becoming more me?

  • What small steps or habits have helped me feel more grounded, more alive?

  • What am I ready to let go of as I move into the second half of the year?

  • What do I want to carry forward with intention?

These don’t need to be answered all at once.

Let them simmer. You might reflect while walking in nature, journalling with your morning cuppa, or simply pause in stillness and notice what bubbles up.

And if things haven’t felt bright or blooming lately – that’s okay too. The light within us isn’t always loud or obvious. Sometimes it’s the soft glow of simply getting through the day, showing up again, choosing rest, or making space for what matters most.

This solstice, I invite you to honour the light that’s quietly been guiding you – even if it’s felt dim at times.

You don’t need to be blazing with energy to be glowing with intention.

Simply being here, continuing to care, to notice, to grow – that’s more than enough.
